Floating Solar Farm in Perak

Semarak RE is making significant strides with a USD 400 million investment in a flagship project – the Floating Solar Farm in Perak. This project is executed in two phases:

Phase 01

Phase 1 of the project will feature a combination of Floating Solar Photovoltaic (PV) panels with a capacity of 130MW, alongside 60MW Hydrogen Electrolyzers and state-of-the-art storage and dispensing facilities. This phase represents a significant leap forward in integrating solar power generation with hydrogen production, marking a crucial step towards the establishment of a hydrogen economy.


Phase 02(Future)

Additional Floating Solar Photovoltaic (PV) panels

Phase 2, slated for future development, will see the addition of another 130MW of Floating Solar PV capacity, accompanied by the conversion of hydrogen into ammonia. This forward-looking approach underscores the company’s commitment to continuous innovation and adaptation to emerging energy trends.

The heart of our project lies in the production of Green Hydrogen through electrolysis, utilizing renewable power. The plant’s daily capacity is 22 metric tons of Green Hydrogen, distributed across 70% ex-tin mine lake and 30% flat land. With a planned operational lifespan of 25 years and a design lifespan of 30 years, our off-takers include industry giants such as Petronas, Tenaga Nasional Berhad (National Power Company), and international markets.

The Semarak RE project anticipates generating revenue in the range of USD 2.0 to 2.9 billion. This demonstrates the viability and economic potential of sustainable energy solutions.

Market Dynamics

Differentiating ourselves from conventional hydrogen production methods, we are committed to producing Green Hydrogen, priced between USD 10-15 per kg. This cost-efficient and environmentally friendly approach contrasts with Blue Hydrogen produced from natural gas (USD 5-11 per kg) and Gray Hydrogen from cheap fracked natural gas (USD 2-6 per kg).
